In this article, we discuss the platformization of technological education, using Cisco Systems' educational system, known as Cisco Networking Academy, as our case study. Since Cisco was one of the first major tech companies to implement a platformized teaching model, it provides a prime example for understanding this phenomenon. Drawing on the studies from the Amsterdam School of Platform Theory, we begin by offering an overview of current research on the platformization of education. We then delve into how the Cisco Networking Academy leverages the three main mechanisms of platformization - datafication, commodification, and selection.
