It is our intention, on this article, to analyze five points that could contribute for the discussion over the research that is made in Education. The first one deals with what it is meant as research, the second with the idea of paradigm, the third with the clash between the so called qualitative and quantitative methods. As to the fourth point, it encompasses the possible role of quantitative studies, and the fifth the question of research groups and the rise of new types of thematics.
