Intending to contribute to the studies regarding the dynamic involving the relationship among mathematicians and mathematic teachers in the context of the Modern Mathematics Movement (MMM) in Brazil, this article focus the discussion between academic culture and school culture, both categories that we consider relevant to a deeper study of this subject. We search to evidence how the practice of the process of doing mathematic from theoretical approaches advocated by the Cultural History. Thus, we look forward to portrait Brazilian mathematician’s daily practices and also the way they were appropriated by the secondary school, from some scientific productions analysis and proposal for mathematics education, using as sources didactic books, documents of pertaining to school archives as well as personal archives, etc. For this we explored the following mathematicians: Omar Catunda, Benedito Castrucci and Luiz Henrique Jacy Monteiro as representative characters of the ways of thinking from that period, which is, MMM.
