This article is the result of research on learning and knowledge in education, carried out by researchers associated to the line of research Theory and Pedagogical Practice in Teacher Training under the Master’s Course in Education of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUCPR). Specific investigation defined childhood education as the scope of the study based on results from the previous research. The purpose is to describe the creation and basis of the dedicated tools that were used in the research. Each tool was experimented by the group of researchers and they are all supported by authors such as Ludwig, Zabalza, Claxton, Moscovici, Jodelet, Marconi and Lakatos, and sampling tested (pilot-school). Data collection tools were aligned to verify if they could meet the proposed project goals before they were finally applied. The article introduces six tools created by the research group and two tools already implemented. As well, it contextualizes where those tools can be used.
