Abstract

We make some considerations on the importance of ethics as a virtue in this paper, not only in the formation of the individual citizen, but also for the completion of educational research, since teaching and research herein are considered two sides of the same coin. The premise of this work is that ethics is expressed in daily personal acts, and consequently, also in one’s researches. It should be emphasized that the choice for the focus selection of this text derives from the locus of our discourse comes from, that is, the condition of a historian and an education historian. It is, therefore, in this field that we problematize ethics as an essential virtue in teaching and in the research of the history of education. It should also be clarified that history and education are conceived as human actions or practices in their entirety and under the long duration perspective. Thus, it is highlighted that both are addressed as always amalgamated, and our discourse will be theoretically justified by the actors of and in History.
