Abstract

In this text, findings of a research performed on the training of basic education teachers are presented. We focused on the role of research in teacher education and teacher's work. Results are analyzed at various stages of development of the study and compared with the contribution of K. Zeichner on this subject and also with that John Elliott, in his extensive work devoted to action research and its relation to teacher education and work. Some of the difficulties surrounding the education of teachers to do research and their performance as researchers are discussed. Nevertheless, the importance of the research for the teacher is highlighted.
