Abstract

ALLIAUD, Andrea  and  VEZUB, Lea. El oficio de enseñar: sobre el quehacer, el saber y el sentir de los docentes argentinos. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2012, vol.12, n.37, pp.927-952. ISSN 1981-416X.

The accelerated changes experienced by the school environment, the society and institutional and training contexts bring teachers into the centre of the picture, questioning their historically built knowledge, teaching strategies and identities under the umbrella of the modern institutional program. In this framework we have enquired about the way in which teachers perceive their tasks, the traits on which they base their work, the knowledge claimed as their own and the sources in which their professional satisfaction lays. This article summarizes part of the outcome of a 2011 research carried out among primary and secondary level teachers working at schools in Argentina. By means of a structured questionnaire, the project explored certain sense nucleus around which the teaching profession restructures today with the purpose of detecting problematic, emblematic and ordinary issues that permeate and tension the dimensions of the teaching professional knowledge. On this occasion, some of the gathered data are presented in three nucleuses: the teacher’s professional work, the knowledge necessary for the task and the feelings inspired by this task. The research and critical analysis of these questions is a key to revisit teacher training and professional development.
