Resumen

RAUSCH, Rita Buzzi  y  DUBIELLA, Eliani. Fatores que promoveram mal ou bem-estar ao longo da profissão docente na opinião de professores em fase final de carreira. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2013, vol.13, n.40, pp.1041-1061. ISSN 1981-416X.

The objective of this research was to identify the main factors contributing to the feelings of malaise or well-being throughout the teaching profession in the opinion presented by teachers in Blumenau Municipal Education at the final stage of their careers. The well- being refers to the professional achievement, promoting satisfaction and commitment, and the malaise means dissatisfaction, sadness and hopelessness that often lead the teacher to a state of illness. The research is characterized as qualitative and exploratory. As a tool for data collection, we applied a questionnaire to 34 teachers. Data were analyzed for evidence of teachers’ satisfactions and dissatisfactions and were categorized into four dimensions: personal, interpersonal, organizational and social. The highlighted factors promoting malaise are: low salaries, professional devaluation, inadequate physical structure, excessive workload, crowded classes, dismissal of the family in supporting and monitoring the students, and students' lack of boundaries. The main factors promoting well-being included: teacher-student and teacher-teacher relationships, student learning and continuous training. Therefore, the organizational dimension is emphasized as the largest promoter of malaise and the teaching interpersonal dimension is seen as the largest promoter of teaching well-being. The results also revealed that some situations of discomfort prevailed due to situations of well-being throughout the profession of teachers in Blumenau Municipal Education and nearly half of respondents would choose another profession if they could go back in time. This indicates that it is urgent to develop collective actions in order to enhance situations of well-being in the teaching profession.
