Abstract

CORREA, Rosa Lydia Teixeira  and  CASTILHOS, Gladiomar Saade de. Children's Literature as a school subject in the professional formation of teachers and scholar culture - 1940-1950. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.43, pp.781-803. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/dialogo.educ.14.043.DS07.

This article is part of a dissertation that turned on Children's Literature and its introduction as a discipline in course curriculum for the training of teachers in the normal school in the city of São Paulo. It is an approach particularly situated in the History of School Subjects (CHERVEL, 1990) and generally in the field of History of Education, in which it was attempted to understand the process by which the common knowledge of children's literature become disciplinary knowledge when they represented a disciplinary corpus with specific purpose: to educate moral and civically childhood based on knowledge conveyed in this type of literature. As a discipline it was established in Brazil in 1947, in São Paulo, by state decree 17698/47 that, among other determinations fall within the normal school curriculum, thus entering the school culture. Thus, as a result of teacher training, she would seat in elementary school through textbooks, educational magazines and books. There are indications that manuals, for example, were used both at the normal course for the training of primary school teachers and in classrooms for reading in elementary school children. Therefore, whether in verse or prose, it was intended to, it seems, educate children according to precepts considered at the time, socially and culturally valid. It is within this perspective that we bring the Children's Literature in this article.
