Abstract

ALBUQUERQUE, Cristina Pinto. Is it the role of the school to generate social justice? theses for discussion of a paradoxical relationship. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.47, pp.17-35. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/dialogo.educ.16.047.DS01.

This article intends to discuss the teleological orientation of the school, considering how far it should or not be a promoter of greater social justice or to contribute to the minimization of socio-economic departure inequalities. To this end it will be discussed the theses of the mass access and democratization of education and the upgrading process of valorization of functional integration skills in the labor market. The argument put forward is that it is not up to school the burden of the realization of a more just world as a political and moral ideal, but it is up to education to ensure the capacitation of citizens that, by their action, may constitute as critical subjects and change promoters.

Keywords : Education; School; Social Justice; Capacitation.
