Are brought in this article preliminary results of research on the textbook of mathematics in Brazil, after the creation of the National Textbook Plan - PNLD which began in the 1980s and has been instrumental in guiding the selection of actions, production, distribution and evaluation of textbooks in Brazil. We seek to know the universe of this production is the approaches contemplating the idea of school culture. The data pointed to the production of two papers on the mathematics textbook containing this approach. In addition, studies find is generally located in the field of History and History of Education, with the latter located the studies related to teaching math book.
