The sense of knowing is one of the most challenging issues in current education, in school as well as in higher education. This paper analyzes these problem and their overlaps, based on Marcel Gauchet's reflections and his criticism about the inconsistencies of most analyzes in education that does not take into account the socio-cultural factors that are the basis of many problems that institutions have today. The purpose of the text is to evaluate the author's thesis that says it is impossible to educate without the preservation of tradition and without maintaining the authority. Therefore, it is necessary to replace the education problem confronting it with the sense that knowledge takes in today's society.
