Abstract

CARVALHO, Jaciara de Sá  and  BRITO, Rita Cassia Martins Costa. From the “little window” to the “big window”: the relevance of qualified contents for the permanent education by the deaf and its transformative inclusion. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.58, pp.818-838.  Epub Feb 06, 2020. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.18.058.ds11.

One of the difficulties that deaf people face is accessing qualified information, since resources such as subtitles and the work of TV interpreters would not be sufficient for full understanding, since most deaf people do not have a proficiency in Portuguese and although the interpreters use the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), there is always a translation. From this problem, this paper presents a discussion about the importance of qualified information to social inclusion with technologies and education of this subjects, considering data of a research about the first WEB TV channel in the country starred by deaf people, with bilingual (Libras and Portuguese) programming. Interviews with deaf people at different levels of schooling point to the need to expand content produced by the deaf and to the deaf as an input for the development of their criticality (FREIRE, 1979), and thus for their ongoing process of education with digital technologies.
