Abstract

RODRIGUES, Edile Maria Fracaro  and  JUNQUEIRA, Sérgio Rogério Azevedo. Education and religion in Sofia Cavalletti’s project: a pedagogical and cultural model. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2019, vol.19, n.63, pp.1374-1396.  Epub Jan 30, 2020. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.19.063.ds03.

This article, the result of a bibliographical research, seeks to understand one of the multiple paths of various practices undertaken in the religious and educational scenario, which is the effective participation of women in the organization of society. It approaches the themes of education and religion from the conception of Sofia Cavalletti (1917-2011), who, with Gianna Gobbi (1920-2002), a Montessori educator, develops the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). He traces the context of the New School and the presuppositions of the Montessori project for the understanding of this proposal for the religious and educational scenario. As in the Montessori method, the GCS enables the handling of concrete materials, emphasizing the education of the senses. And as with most approaches, educational or ministerial, the GCS also has its critics. The time of formation of catechists, considered too long, the linguistic question in the writings of Cavalletti, particularly for an English-speaking audience, and the fact that it does not provide precise definitions of their research, are some delicate points of their assumptions.
