CARVALHO, Maria Angela Barros de  y  SANTOS, Lorene dos. Impacts of the Organic Law of 1946 in the trajectory of normal school students: a study of Thematic Oral History. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.64, pp.379-404.  Epub 22-Abr-2020. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.20.064.ao09.

This paper discusses the possible impacts of the Organic Law of Normal Teaching (Lei Orgânica do Ensino Normal), promulgated in 1946, in the formation and professional trajectory of normal school students, gathering evidence regarding some of the transformations made in the status of teaching formation based on the new legislation. Utilizing the Thematic Oral History methodology, eight women, aged between 84 and 92 years old, that in the decade of 1940 were taking a teaching course in a religious normal school in the municipality of Conceição do Mato Dentro, Minas Gerais, were interviewed. It was aimed to interconnect multiple sources, including written documents, images, bibliographical texts and oral narratives, gathered alongside the interviewed persons and in different institutional archives and personal collections. The analysis took into consideration the sociopolitical contexts of the time in dialogue with Education History, specially the studies regarding educational legislation and history of teaching formation and of the educational institutions. The findings of the research confirm the existence of impacts caused by the legislation in topic in the trajectory and professional lives of the former normal students, allowing the comprehension of dimensions of the identities of a group of women and some aspects of the curriculum experienced by them during the normal course. The investigation aims to show how great events born in the macro socio-political scenario, such as the legislation of 1946, reverberate in the micro social space, echoing the voices of octogenarian women whose memories would be condemned to silence and oblivion, if it were not for the possibility of listening and registry allowed by Oral History.
