Abstract

ARAUJO, Osmar Hélio Alves; FORTUNATO, Ivan  and  MEDEIROS, Emerson Augusto de. Professional development of teacher educators: ratings of relationships established with undergraduate students. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.68, pp.27-48.  Epub May 11, 2021. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.21.068.ds02.

The professional development of teacher educators and the relationships built with students are two sides of the same process: (trans)forming oneself and the other. In this paper, of a theoretical nature, we study the professional development of teachers educators from the relationships established with students in pre-service teaching undergraduate courses. To this end, we begin with a brief overview of professional experiences and the knowledge of experience, followed by a discussion in which it is sought to argue that the relationship between a teacher educator and his/hers students can be understood as an experience of professional (trans)formation. We conclude that conducting studies and research on teacher education for Higher Education, particularly regarding the work of teacher educators in preservice teaching courses, is extremely necessary, especially since there are still few studies and research in this direction.
