Ethic is a necessary theme for social life and human beings in Paulo Freire’s works. Therefore, this article presents some findings about ethic in the book “Education as freedom practice”. The objective was to identify statements about ethics, present in Freire's discourse, which were analyzed through the theoretical-methodological approach of Foucault's “Archaeological Discourse Analysis” (2000). When ca]rrying out the excavation in the aforementioned work, several findings were identified, whose regularity in the midst of dispersion indicates the presence of different ways of registering the “ethic” question in Freire. The key-signifiers found, associated with “ethic”, were five: “integration”, “awareness”, “criticality”, “subject” and “humanization”. Therefore, Freire's ethical thinking in the aforementioned work, denotes its importance as a device for the formation of the critical consciousness of human beings, so that they leave the condition of subject-object, of mere spectator, manipulated, objectified, framed, to the condition of humanized subject, ethical subject.
