NASCIMENTO, Ernandes Rodrigues do  y  PADILHA, Maria Auxiliadora Soares. Brazilian teacher engagement scale: measuring the level of teachers' involvement with the teaching and learning process. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.73, pp.854-884.  Epub 17-Dic-2022. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.22.073.ao01.

Understanding the reasons and consequences of teacher engagement is essential to improve teaching and learning conditions in educational institutions in our country. Research has shown that, in the world, there are three instruments used to measure teacher engagement: UWES, ETS and ITEI. Based on this fact, the Brazilian Teacher Engagement Scale (EBED) was proposed, but it had not yet been tested, which generated the following concern: the teacher engagement scale proposed is able to measure the level of involvement of teachers with the student learning in the context of Brazilian education? To answer the research problem, the general objective was to experiment with the proposed teacher engagement scale to measure the level of teachers' involvement with student learning in the context of Brazilian education. The specific objectives were to establish the dimensions of teacher engagement and identify ways of reading and interpreting the results of the teacher engagement scale. In addition to descriptive statistics, other tests were performed: Cronbach's Alpha, Bartlett and Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) and Exploratory Factor Analysis (AFE). The results showed that EBED can promote three analyzes of teacher engagement: general, with student learning, by dimension (cognitive, emotional, institutional, pedagogical and social), and by specific indicators. Using EBED will allow educational institutions to think of strategies that promote greater teacher engagement, in addition to creating programs to care for teachers who need support to engage when they are unmotivated and with personal and professional problems.
