Abstract

This article presents the results of the mapping of research on the topic Teaching work in Professional Education, focusing specifically on the macro-theme “Profession and Career”. The questions that guided the study were: has teaching work in professional education, in its different forms, been an object of academic study in Brazil? If so, what has been researched on this topic? Does the research reveal a context of valorization or precariousness of teaching work? In order to answer such questions, a “State of de Question” mapping was carried out, specifically analyzing the productions of graduates of strictu sensu Postgraduate Programs, published between 2000 and 2020 in two Brazilian databases. Therefore, it was observed that a significant portion of the mapped studies focus the analysis on the absence of specific pedagogical training for teachers of professional education, in the defense of the structuring of teaching identity, in the teaching culture and in the criticism of the mechanisms of control and evaluation in force in the Brazilian education system. In result, few results that highlight labor issues as the main focus are noted, which could contribute to the construction of policies to value teachers in professional education, favoring the development of strategies for professional teacher recognition and the definition of careers and salaries.
