Abstract

VIEIRA, ALBONI MARISA DUDEQUE PIANOVSKI  and  PASSOS, EDSON RODRIGUES. Continuing education of teachers in Curitiba, in the period 1996-2016, in the context of globalization. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.74, pp.1382-1409.  Epub Nov 19, 2022. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.22.074.ao07.

The article aims to discuss the process of continuing education of teachers in the city of Curitiba in the period between 1996 and 2016, based on a mixed conceptual support: qualitative and quantitative, understanding that in view of the specificity of the object under analysis, the approaches are complement with epistemological gain for research. The general objective of the research is to investigate the relationship between public policies adopted by the Curitiba Municipal Education Network in the period 1996-2016 and the continuing education of teachers, in the context of globalization. As specific objectives, we have: to present the data about the totality of the courses offered in the continuous formation of teachers by the city of Curitiba in the period mentioned, to weave the criticism and to present the differences of offerings between the demands of the training courses during each period. The theoretical support is referenced in contemporary authors of dialectical thought, among them Severino (2007), Ferreira (2003), Schelling (1984) and Teodoro (2003). As a result, it was found that discussions were intensified on the subject of continuing teacher education in the face of the globalized and technological world. In addition, the survey revealed the quantity of courses offered in the period of each mayor, which showed the commitment and the investment in continuing education in each term.
