Abstract

BEZERRA, AMÁLIA CRISTINA DIAS DA ROCHA. Vitaline Stories of a Trooper of Instruction (1937-2007): collections, territories and trajectories. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.75, pp.1519-1546.  Epub Dec 26, 2022. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.22.075.ds03.

The research about Severina Félix de Araújo's schooling trajectory and professional performance was carried out based on her private collection, which includes school documents, photographs and autobiographical records. The legatary of the collection produced a family tree and the education levels of her family, in which she was the first of a generation to enter public school as a child. Before herself and after herself, Severina sought to know dates of birth, marriage, and education levels of the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of her mother, Vitalina Pereira de Araújo. Thus, the research intends to situate why Severina was the first to have a school career and become a teacher. The teacher also produced a notebook with data on her teaching registrations, with entry dates, schools, and grades taught. The documentation, compared to the historiography, allows us to know the schooling trajectory experienced from the 1930s to the 1970s and the exercise of teaching until her retirement in the 2000s. The need for migrations, changes of neighborhoods, cities, and states gave contours to the educational and professional opportunities. From Severina's trajectory emerge aspects of the history of public school supply and the teaching profession in Brazil in the twentieth century. In this perspective, besides presenting a school and professional trajectory from the private collection, the documentation was collated with the historiography of education to analyze how subject, structure and context lurk in the historical process and the intentions of memory inscribed in the constitution of this biographical collection.
