This text aims to present a reflection on the uniqueness of the Research with children methodology and the relationships that we establish with the research interlocutors, with reference to a doctoral thesis in Education, defended in 2019, in a federal public university in northeastern Brazil, which investigated the play of children in times of mobile digital technologies. The study, of qualitative approach, adopted the methodological assumptions of Research with Children (CASTRO, 2008; FANTIN, 2009; PEREIRA, 2015b), dialoguing, problematizing, inquiring together with the child about the experiences lived, in order to provide the researcher with knowledge that can unravel the reality studied. The theoretical foundation was based on the Studies of Childhood, carried out in the field of Sociology of Childhood (CORSARO, 2011; SARMENTO, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008; SARMENTO; PINTO, 1997; SIROTA, 2011; PINTO, 1997; QUINTEIRO, 2009). As a result, we concluded that in the methodology of Research with Children it is necessary to think about the posture of the researcher in the relationship with the interlocutors. This posture needs to have as a principle the place of otherness experienced by adult researchers and children throughout their research process.
