The objective of the article is to discuss the possible changes in the forms of political socialization in spaces usually considered privileged for such, such as the school and the family. In addition, we address the possible uses made by young people of digital media for the debate on politics. Still, we seek to observe the uses of these media based on the ideological positioning of young people and analyze possible differences in the use of WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, notably with regard to trust in their content. [I think we should reformulate here: discuss the differences in the uses of social media (WP, TW and FB) by young people and their confidence in the content broadcast? Suggestion.] Political socialization is triggered to discuss the perceptions and ways of using these digital media by young people in schools. The collection of quantitative data was carried out between September and November 2019 in the municipalities of Pelotas, Caxias do Sul and Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul. The field research consisted of the application of a survey, with a representative sample of students enrolled in regular high school (State, Federal and Private education) with a sample of 2,169 questionnaires applied. The results indicate, differing from a common sense that sees young people as increasingly alienated and apolitical, a context of their lives in which political controversies are unfolded, including about the uses and political engagements in digital social networks.
