This article systematizes teaching approaches that influence Brazilian education, for the purpose of locate an alternative to be applied in teacher education regarding the problem of the lack of pedagogical practices committed to meeting its formative demands, in a contextualized manner and globally connected. By utilizing bibliographical review and qualitative research, the study looked into the teaching approaches identified by Mizukami (2016) and came closer especially to the approach involving the conceptual triad: complex thinking-transdisciplinarity-ecoformation. Thus, it is concluded that complex education is in fact a teaching approach that encourages teacher training aimed at promoting metamorphoses in the pedagogical practice as it values pertinent knowledge and, as a result, it also values teaching and learning processes which effectively appreciate hologrammatic, dialogical, and recursive principles.
