With this article, we aim to analyze, based on the postulates of historical and dialectical materialism, the reform of secondary education (2017) and its consequences in the education of working-class children in a context of deep crisis of capitalism. As a basic premise, we start from the understanding that education and the ongoing reforms cannot be explained by themselves, but express the existing conflicts in a deeply divided and unequal society. Considering the growing precariousness of living and working conditions, we seek to analyze the origin of the process of such transformations in the world of work. Promoted by the Ministry of Education of the Temer government, after the coup against President Dilma Rousseff, the reform of Secondary Education, enacted through Law 13,415 of 2.16.2017, changed the proposal present in the Law of Guidelines and Bases (LDB) by make the curriculum more flexible, streamlining it in such a way as to further deplete the school's role in transmitting historically accumulated knowledge. In this perspective, the economic and ideological interests in the disputes present in the reform, the proclaimed objectives, as well as those implicit in this process, are analyzed. The proposal of the BNCC (2018) and its consequences for the training of students and the organic links with the interests of capital in the reproduction of the workforce are also considered.
