PINHEIRO, Diego Fernandes e FERNANDES, Maria Nilvane. The service network and the right to school education of Venezuelan children in Manaus. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.24, n.81, pp.468-486. Epub 21-Out-2024. ISSN 1981-416X. https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.24.081.ds04.
In 2016, thousands of Venezuelan people migrated to Brazil due to the economic and humanitarian crisis caused by the economic embargoes imposed on Venezuela by the United States of America and the European Union. Therefore, changes to Brazilian legislation were made to guarantee social rights to these people when they arrived in the country. The objective of this article is to analyze the right to education of children in situations of social mobility, as well as to analyze the service network for people in situations of human mobility in Manaus. The method that guides the research is historical-dialectical materialism and the methodological procedure is bibliographic and documentary. To think about social phenomena in a broad way that express the analyzed reality, we use totality as a fundamental category. This category is directly related to the chosen method. The results consider that guaranteeing social rights to people in mobility situations is formalized as public policy. Regarding educational data, in 2021, 32% of immigrants were people aged up to 17 years. Regarding the difficulty of enrolling, the problem is related to lack of knowledge of the Brazilian educational system. Despite this, 37,000 Venezuelans were enrolled in Brazilian schools in 2021, among these, 5,726 children were enrolled in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education in Manaus.
