ALMEIDA, Luiz Fernando Correia de; GARCIA, Fabiane Maia  e  FERREIRA, David Goes. Adherence to open science by education journals: an analysis from the FEPAE/ANPED catalog. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.24, n.82, pp.943-962.  Epub 21-Out-2024. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.24.082.ds06.

The study discusses the adherence to open science in journals listed in the catalog of the Forum of Journal Editors in the Field of Education (FEPAE) of the National Association of Research and Graduate Studies in Education (Anped). Data collected from 172 journals through their electronic pages were analyzed, identifying a variety of practices and policies adopted concerning open science, without necessarily implying that the majority are fully aligned with the openness movement. Despite the challenges, the adoption of open science by education journals will strengthen the integrity and transparency of research, promoting a more collaborative culture and socialization in scientific communication. The results indicated that the majority of journals adopt double-blind peer review (78.49%), some do not specify how peer review is conducted (17.44%), and the remainder present some type of openness and transparency during the review process (3.48%). Regarding open data, 93.10% of the journals do not provide guidelines, and only 4.60% encourage its availability. Additionally, only 31.61% allow self-archiving. This highlights the need to improve editorial policies with transparency and integrity in scientific publication in education. Therefore, the type of adherence to open science experienced in education journals and the limited availability of data may compromise the credibility and replicability of research in the field.
