SANTOS, Gildenir Carolino; ALMEIDA, Maria de Lourdes Pinto de e SANTOS FILHO, José Camilo dos. From theory to good editorial practice: the experience of UNICAMP's International Journal of Higher Education. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.24, n.82, pp.1013-1032. Epub 21-Out-2024. The movement of academic journals to Internet has resulted in the proliferation of new approaches to publication, where the subscription model is no longer predominant. The game of interests practiced for publishing in scientific publishing houses and associations is now making room for free publication by universities, reducing costs and increasing the dissemination of scientific production in the academic environment, seeking to share good practices among institutions. It is therefore essential that scientific periodicals follow the innovations and good practices of scientific editing.
Objective:
To present the good editorial practices used by the International Journal of Higher Education (IJHE). Methodology: The research is characterized as a case study complemented by a descriptive analysis of the good practices implemented in the editorial flow of a scientific journal, created in July 2015.
Results:
As result, the periodical is incorporating the good editorial practices along its almost 10 years of existence, increasingly improving and keeping pace with innovations in the field of scientific publishing.
Conclusion:
With the adoption of these good practices and its continuous improvement in scientific publishing, IJHE aims to achieve the editorial quality required by the world's best indexers. For being a relatively “young” journal, IJHE is opened to learn from more experienced Brazilian periodicals and to share its good editorial practices with interested periodicals.
