This article focuses on the importance of reflection on teaching practices in higher education, specifically in medical school, based on the concept of the professor as a reflective practitioner. The study suggests the need for a new look at the teaching-learning process to allow the kind of teaching practice that reflects on action and conceives learning as a construction performed by the individuals themselves through the relations and meaning they establish between the information presented to them and their social milieu.
