TAQUETTE, Stella Regina  y  MINAYO, Maria Cecília de Souza. Teaching-Learning of Qualitative Research Methods in Medicine. Rev. Bras. Educ. Med. [online]. 2015, vol.39, n.1, pp.60-67. ISSN 1981-5271.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1981-52712015v39n1e02112014.

This article is concerned with the vision that doctors have regarding qualitative methods in their research, the difficulties and barriers that they encounter in this area and the possibilities for broadening teaching and the use of this approach in studies. In order to meet this objective we used qualitative methods and open interviews to gather data. We interviewed 42 professionals, 18 of whom had experience with qualitative methods and 24 with quantitative methods. The interviewees perceive the main barriers to using such methods to be the lack of social and human sciences in medicine course curriculums, the extensive time required to carry out empirical research and the difficulty in publishing articles of such a nature. The majority of the interviewees believed it necessary to include human science material in the medical curriculum and to incentivize the practical teaching of such methods by encouraging participation in research and presenting on how such studies contribute to health sector research.
