Abstract

CHIARELLA, Tatiana et al. The Pedagogy of Paulo Freire and Medical Education. Rev. Bras. Educ. Med. [online]. 2015, vol.39, n.3, pp.418-425. ISSN 1981-5271.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1981-52712015v39n3e02062014.

Brazilian medical education presents challenges in providing human resources to the Unified Health System in line with the main national health policies. The pedagogy of Paulo Freire presents a critical view of the teaching-learning process including the political emancipation of the student and the ability to transform the reality. Such values are desired in the professional training of Brazilian physicians. This study aims to assess to what extent medical teachers from a São Paulo university understand the teaching-learning process in terms of the principles of Paulo Freire’s pedagogy.
