Abstract

BRAATZ, Jennifer Priscilla  and  KRAEMER, Celso. Constituição histórica da criança com paralisia cerebral como anormal e os reflexos na educação. Educ. Teoria Prática [online]. 2013, vol.23, n.42, pp.127-142. ISSN 1981-8106.

This article aims to understand the relationship between the historical constitution of the child with cerebral palsy and education. Thisis a historical analysis and study of literature, from the genealogical conception of Michel Foucault. The child with cerebral palsy is currently seen in our society, as an "abnormal" child. Thus, they are deprived of certain opportunities in their activities, subject to a dependence on adults, because they are filed as disabled and incapable. Thus, it's necessary to study the history of the constitution of the concept of the disability, and of the abnormality, as the biomedical paradigm, as about the socio-cultural aspects, trying to understand the effects of these concepts on the child and their implications for the education. Children with cerebral palsy have been included in the madness, the idiocy, mental retardation. In the nineteenth century they were characterized as patients and in the same century, they passed of sick children for “abnormal” children.
