Abstract

MATOS, Mayara da Mota  and  IAOCHITE, Roberto Tadeu. THE PROFILE OF THE GRADUATE STUDENT AS AN ELEMENT TO THINK ABOUT THE ENGINEERING’S TEACHER TRAINING. Educ. Teoria Prática [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.63, e38. ISSN 1981-8106.  https://doi.org/10.18675/1981-8106.v30.n.63.s14684.

Through the online application of a sociodemographic questionnaire, an exploratory study of quantitative nature was carried out, whose objective was to identify and describe the profile of graduate students in Engineering, aiming to know personal and academic characteristics and relate them to the processes of teacher education for the higher education carried out during the course. 340 graduate students from public institutions in the South and Southeast of Brazil participated. Over half of the participants were under 30 years of age, most of them male, and a) 297 graduated from bachelor courses, b) 45.6% had no experience with teaching, and c) 85.9% intend to be higher education teachers. The results found support discussions on the preparation for teaching offered to graduate students, as knowledge about the student profile could be used to bring the reality of the courses closer to the needs of their students, with a view to training of better teachers.
