Abstract

This work aims to analyze the territorial identity of São Tomé community, at Marajó, trough political mobilization and resistance in the fight for the permanence of the Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental e Infantil São Tomé to the detriment of the territorial nucleation on rural context. A research developed by undergraduate students on Field Education at Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Pará indicate the key role of territorial identity in the social mobilization for the permanence of the school – a mobilization that, in turn, contributes to reinforce residents’ territorial identity.
