This paper discusses the historiographic production initiatives on the history of education in the Amazon, particularly studies of researchers who investigate the state of knowledge about the trajectory of education in the region. The research methodology has a bibliographic survey of books and articles, based on indicators on the history of education in the Amazon or its states, addressing the productions that refer to the period that corresponds to the first initiatives of creation of research groups in History of Education, in the 1980s, until the last twenty years, when there was an increase of studies in the Amazon. We conclude that, in spite of the important advances that have occurred, because it is a historically peripheral region in several aspects and therefore neglected in relation to the South and Southeast of Brazil, for example, it is still necessary to expand the efforts towards the dissemination of its production, which should occur from the training of new researchers in the field.
