The bias of the present study is focused on the performance of teachers and their pedagogical practice. Considering this context, the main objective is to analyze through a quantitative research, asking to what extent teachers feel prepared to work in the classroom, since such preparation must start at graduation and be continuous throughout their career, including in the institution where the professional works. Thus, the research that follows, in terms of its nature, is an applied research. With regard to the objective explored, it is an exploratory research, with qualitative and quantitative characteristics. In addition to this field research, the following authors were used for the theoretical foundation: Dewey (1952 and 1959), Demo (1996), Gatti (2011), Giddens (2002) and Lévy (1992 and 1999). The research was carried out in the city of Passo Fundo-RS, with teachers from the final grades of Elementary School I, fourth and fifth year, respectively. The results obtained bring an alert regarding this preparation, given that they indicate the need for more training focused on active methodologies and surrounded by technology, so that learning is meaningful and consistent with the reality of 21 st century society.
