Abstract

BRANDI, Thales; PINHEIRO, Taynah da Silva  and  CASTILHO, Selma Rodrigues de. Talking about rational drug utilization in schools: a literature review. Educ. Teoria Prática [online]. 2024, vol.34, n.67, e10.  Epub Sep 05, 2024. ISSN 1981-8106.  https://doi.org/10.18675/1981-8106.v34.n.67.s17409.

Drug poisoning occurs in about 17% of individuals between 10 and 19 years of age, which makes talking with this population about the rational use of medicines within the school environment essential. This work aims to carry out a bibliographical review on national experiences in the classroom related to the use of medicines. A search was carried out in PubMed, VHL, SciELO and Google Scholar databases, and 22 articles were selected for reading and data analysis. Most of the studies focused on activities carried out with students, mainly in public and high schools. The main topics covered were: concepts, self-medication, disposal and use of antibiotics, generally associated with the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Natural Sciences. There is a need for more public initiatives aimed at health education in relation to the use of medicines.

Keywords : Rational Drug Utilization; Health Education; Self-medication.
