The general objective of this article is to deepen the discussions about new possibilities for the cartographic training of geographers and pedagogues by bringing up the curricular problem that was found in a doctoral study. It presents the main findings obtained from a documentary research that, based on a systemic and interdisciplinary critical-analytical perspective, had as its analytical corpus syllabus and basic bibliographies of disciplines involved with cartographic training. The theoretical framework establishes a dialogue between the areas of Geography and Education and Language, with a focus on New Literacy Studies. It is clarified that the results presented are restricted to the curricular-prescriptive dimension, therefore, they are partial, considering that this analysis reaches its completeness in the practical-training dimension, which will be the object of another production, in which the results of the second facet of the study: curricula in action.
