Abstract

PASSOS, Marinez Meneghello; ALBANO, Mara Sílvia Henares  and  ARRUDA, Sergio de Mello. Permanence and dropout of students in the Teacher Training Course at high school level. Educ. Teoria Prática [online]. 2025, vol.35, n.69, e05. ISSN 1981-8106.  https://doi.org/10.18675/1981-8106.v35.n.69.s17478.

This research aimed to identify and understand why students remain or drop out of the Teacher Training Course at high school level in a municipality in the north of Paraná State, Brazil. For this purpose, elements were used as a theoretical foundation that enlightens us about general and high school-level teacher training, school dropouts, and the relationships that permeate the teaching and learning processes. The qualitative research collected data through interviews with students in training, students who dropped out, and students who graduated from the course. The interviews were transcribed and subsequently organized and interpreted according to content analysis procedures. Among the conclusions reached with this analytical process, we highlight the lack of information about the Teacher Training Course at high school level, the relationship between teacher trainers and students, students and their colleagues in the course, and the relationship that students developed with the teaching profession itself.
