SANTANA, Leonor M.; CHAMON, Edna Maria Querido de Oliveira y CAMARINI, Gladis. Studies in social representations: methodological discussions and application in the field of education. Educ. Scientific methodology is a way in which theory, approach, instruments and the creativity of the researcher are articulated, with the aim of elucidating a question, a problem and building knowledge. Studies in social representations use a variety of methodologies, integrating method and theory, seeking to grasp socially elaborated knowledge in processes of interaction. The aim of this article is to present and discuss the approaches, techniques and concepts used in research with theoretical support from the Theory of Social Representations through a literature review, and to present a study carried out in the field of Education, highlighting the methodological aspect. To this end, we sought to bring aspects of the theory together with methodological procedures, covering data collection techniques, as well as tools for processing and analyzing the content learned. The multi-methodological nature of social representation studies is necessary, as it allows us to grasp the social representations elaborated by the group about a given object, from different perspectives.
