The current article exposes some of the reading experiences manifested through of picturebook made by a sample group of children from the market place in the south of Tunja (Colombia), this is a product of a field work that inquired about the reading practices of relatives and children in relation to their life stories and school. It is important to highlight the role of reader in the process of esthetic reception proposed by Iser, to change the pedagogical and methodological practice developed in non-formal educational environment for a critical reader training. It is emphasized that working with communities should be a participative process, for them become part of building proposals of promotion and reading animation that respond to their reading experiences and their socio-cultural characteristics.
