Abstract

GUIMARAES, Mirtes Aparecida dos Reis  and  SIMONINI, Eduardo. “WHO WANTS TO STAY WITH HIM?”: THE STORY OF A SCHOOL EXCLUSION. Revista Teias [online]. 2019, vol.20, n.56, pp.463-474.  Epub Dec 19, 2019. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2019.38986.

The present work has the proposal to discuss the “other”; and the estrangement that the “strange” places in movement, when confronting with identity references established as truth-worlds. Thus, we followed the daily routine of a 5th grade Elementary School classroom of a school located in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais, giving special emphasis to some facts that occurred with a student of twelve years old who, here in this work, is called Mateus. The strangeness that Mateus produced in the school and in the studied classroom, culminated in the process of his exclusion and expulsion, and this process is what we followed in this article, in the attempt to discuss the tensions around the presence of the “other”; in the school routine. We concluded by sustaining that the discussion over school exclusions and the relationships with the “others” involves complex perspectives which lead to questions on the models of the society and of the human beings, that are offered as unique truths, often disqualifying what or who is “strange”.
