Abstract

This article discusses labels and research approaches mapped in academic literature in Portuguese in the area of Education and Technology. The discussion draws upon findings obtained in an investigation that aimed at identifying trends in conceptions of technology in education. Based upon a thematic content analysis of approximately 200 articles published in Qualis-A journals, 7 categories of research approaches and 4 broad types of educational technology labels were identified. The article presents a scenario constituted by a great diversity of theoretical approaches and expressions that are open to numerous interpretations and little tangible relation with educational questions. The article concludes with comments on sensitive points that deserve special attention in the area of EdTech.
