We present results of a study that aimed to characterize the initial training in the biology and pedagogy degrees of State University of Feira de Santana for dealing with cultural diversity. For this, they were identified approaches in history, philosophy and sociology of science and Ethnobiology in the subjects of these courses, categorizations, and content analysis. The results indicate that some of the total of the disciplines of both courses have these approaches, being 2.98% for Biology and 2.7% for pedagogy. It is understood that these approaches are not enough and suggested a review of curricula in order to score points among the theoretical approaches worked in the courses and the experiences of schools in the region with respect to cultural diversity.
