Abstract

SANT’ANNA, Cristiano  and  SILVA, Isadora Souza. POSSIBLE DIALOGUES BETWEEN SCHOOLS AND TERREIROS: strategies for the fight against racism. Revista Teias [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.62, pp.92-105.  Epub Feb 09, 2022. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.%y.49709.

This article is an excerpt from Doctorate researches that are concerned with studying children from terreiros (CAPUTO, 2012), highlighting the female Makotas position and its importance in maintaining the great cultural complex formed from the African diaspora, specifically Brazilian candomblés, as well as the processes of discrimination and religious racism that these same children go through in their daily lives. We understand how much wealth and wisdom circulate in the daily life of terreiros, crossing and resisting time and space, thus helping in the identity construction and empowerment of several children and young adherents of the religion. We opted for a decolonial and daily theoretical framework, representing the knowledge from these places (ALVES, 2010; CAPUTO, 2012, 2018, 2020; SANTOS, 2010, among others). We believe in an insurgent perspective which brings to the formal spaces of knowledge, the knowledge of the so-called terreiros grammar as a form of anti-racist struggle strategy.

Keywords : Makotas; terreiro children; african matrix religion; religious racism.
