Abstract

MACEDO, Rejane Lucia Amarante de. FORMAÇÃO DE PROFESSORES E RACISMO — where are we going?. Revista Teias [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.62, pp.106-115.  Epub Feb 09, 2022. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.%y.49740.

Writing about racism nowadays is to bring up everyday facts that point to the debate on the racial issue in Brazil. The proposal of this writing is based on the recognition that racism is also present in the training of teachers and in general, many prejudices conceived and introjected throughout social life are in the school space in an explicit way, or even in a camouflaged way. Is it possible to think of teacher education as a space for discussing race relations? In Brazilian society, racism takes place in different ways and racism occurs not only due to cultural issues, but also in relation to the physical aspects observable in the body of the black person. Within this presented scenario, this article will give greater emphasis to the education that takes place inside the school, as it has long been a bet for emancipation and guarantee of better living conditions for the black population.

Keywords : teacher training; racism; racial discrimination; curriculum.
