Abstract

VIDEIRA, Piedade Lino; OLIVEIRA, Wesley Vaz  and  PENHA, Sabrina Silva. RACIAL SELF-DECLARATION AND EDUCATIONAL DEPLOYMENTS IN ESCOLA ESTADUAL GENERAL AZEVEDO COSTA. Revista Teias [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.62, pp.186-202.  Epub Feb 09, 2022. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.%y.48594.

This work deals with educational issues of the formative process related to the racial self-declaration of high school students from Escola Estadual General Azevedo, located in the municipality of Macapá, Amapá. The purpose of this analysis is to investigate how high school students racially declare themselves. Qualitative research was used as practical methodology through the application of questionnaires to students, records and notes in field activities, and quantitative research to assist in data analysis. Thereafter, we noted that racial self-declaration is complexly shaped by students, since the construction of black identity is a difficult process, permeated by tensions, with formative and educational implications.

Keywords : self-affirmation of the black identity; high school students; public school.
