Abstract

ROSA, Chaiane de Medeiros. THE LEVEL OF TRAINING FOR TEACHERS IN BRAZILIAN HIGHER EDUCATION: 2010 to 2018. Revista Teias [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.65, pp.252-266.  Epub Dec 26, 2019. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.%y.49440.

This study aims to analise the level of training of Brazilian higher education teachers in the period from 2010 to 2018. To this end, documentary research was carried out, in consultation with the statistical synopses of the Higher Education Census, released by the National Institute of Studies and Research Educational Programs “Anísio Teixeira”, as well as postgraduate data, published by GeoCapes, from 2010 to 2018. In addition, to support the analysis of the data, educational regulatory documents were consulted and bibliographical research was carried out, in consultation with authors who discuss teacher training, especially in higher education. As a result, there was an increase in the number of teachers; the expansion of training at the master's and doctoral level, especially in the public sector, with emphasis on federal institutions; and the decentralization of the best qualified teachers in the South and Southeast regions of the country.

Keywords : university teaching; higher education; master's; doctorate degree.
