Abstract

MASCARO, Cristina Angélica Aquino de C  and  REDIG, Annie Gomes. STUDENTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES IN CONTEMPORARY SCHOOL: successful pedagogical practices. Revista Teias [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.66, pp.66-79.  Epub Feb 06, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2021.57019.

The article is part of the schooling theme of students with intellectual disabilities. A qualitative investigation is presented through an argumentative analysis regarding the practical pedagogical demands that meet the specificities of this student so that his educational itinerary at school promotes his academic, social and work inclusion. Through the analysis of the specialized literature on the subject, effective proposals were presented and discussed in order to promote access, permanence and construction of knowledge for these students. The results point out the relevance of pedagogical work with a focus on collaborative teaching between teachers of Common Education and Special Education, the planning of classes in the guidelines of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), as well as the development of the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) and the Individualized Transition Plan (ITP). The conclusions highlight the necessary changes so that the contemporary school can be in line with the assumptions of inclusive education.
