Abstract

SANTOS, Pamela Cristina dos. PLANTATION MEMORIES: Grada Kilomba Writings. Revista Teias [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.66, pp.468-471.  Epub Feb 06, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2021.55172.

The review highlights some of the main contributions of the work of Grada Kilomba, translated into Portuguese as, Memórias da Plantação: episodes of daily racism. Although the author is of Portuguese origin, the work arrives in Brazil, already with translation into the Portuguese language, only in the year 2019. Such work has a great construction for the studies of Ethnic-Racial Relations in Brazil and in the world since it brings elements aspects of racism expressed in the daily lives of black subjects. In the book, the ways in which racism is orchestrated in societies are taught and the ways in which they affect black people from childhood to adulthood, in addition, it stands out as psychological and social marks left by daily racism. Based on a deep and politically positioned discussion, Grada Kilomba presents us, in this work, with possibilities of knowing and recognizing racism in its essence as well as ways of urgent resistance.

Keywords : racism; ethnic-racial relations; language..
